PRP & Prolotherapy

At Innergy Integrative Medicine, we use orthobiologic injections—most commonly Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and dextrose prolotherapy—to help stabilize and strengthen ligaments and tendons that support healthy joint function. These therapies may be appropriate after sprains, overuse injuries, or to support recovery and performance under clinician guidance.

What are these therapies?

Prolotherapy

A nonsurgical injection technique that aims to stimulate the body’s healing response in ligaments and tendons.
Types we use:

  • Dextrose Prolotherapy: Uses a medical-grade dextrose solution to trigger targeted repair signaling.

  • PRP Prolotherapy: Combines prolotherapy principles with PRP (below) for selected cases.

Some clinics also discuss adipose-derived (fat) tissue approaches. Availability is jurisdiction-dependent and subject to regulatory guidance; our recommendations prioritize safety, compliance, and evidence.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

PRP is a concentrated portion of your own blood containing a high level of platelets and growth factors involved in tissue repair. After a small blood draw, we centrifuge the sample to isolate PRP and inject it into the target area. Because PRP is autologous (from you), systemic side effects are uncommon; temporary soreness or swelling at the injection site is expected.

When PRP/Prolotherapy may help

  • Chronic tendinopathies (e.g., tennis/golfer’s elbow, patellar or Achilles tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis)

  • Ligament sprains and joint instability (e.g., ankle, knee, shoulder)

  • Mild-to-moderate osteoarthritis (e.g., knee, hip, shoulder)

  • Overuse injuries and post-traumatic soft-tissue pain

Evidence and response vary by condition and severity. We’ll advise whether injections, rehab, or a different approach is the best fit.

(PRP can also be used in hair and skin applications; ask about our aesthetic PRP services.)

Is this right for you?

Regenerative injections work best as part of a comprehensive plan that may include physical therapy, strength and mobility work, nutrition, sleep, and stress recovery. We’ll help you weigh benefits, risks, expected timelines, and alternatives.
